INTRODUCTION
We would like to thank you for your interest in GoNzO by
A-Level Pictures, Inc.
The information
available to potential investors includes but is not limited
to a Budget and a treatment of the concept for the improved
screenplay. After reviewing
this information we are confident that you will find this
film is unique and powerful and a story that needs to be
told.
For over the span of a lifetime this sorted group of the most
eccentric and diverse friends, born and raised on the streets
of Los Angeles, lived it up and partied it down creating bonds,
brotherhood and enemies in the world and each other. This resulted
in each of these friends wandering different ways over the
last decade. We now reunite this intriguing group for an all
out journey using public transportation to the limit of experience
in a border town named Tijuana, Mexico just a skip away from
the U.S.A.
We will explore
four realms here as we introduce this new way of making a
feature film to the world…
OVERVIEW OF THE FILM
GoNzo is a style
of reportage, filmmaking, or any form of multimedia production
in which the reporter, filmmaker or author is
intrinsically enmeshed with the subject action (rather than
being a passive observer).
The style was popularized by Hunter
S. Thompson and thrives to this day.
The trials and tribulations of killing
a friend
An underlining plot
of this film is new to the concept of filmmaking. The entire
cast of friends will not know of the outcome of the final
fact. In the story of the film takes
place in real time after our main character (Roho) has discovered
that his sister’s recent heroin addiction and death from
over dose, was all due to his friend (Brail) who got her hooked
on the junk. Roho is now going to travel with Brail
and his friends to Tijuana with the plan seeking revenge by
secretly murdering Brail. Bringing along an acquaintance
to the group, Roho has secretly hired a killer who will commit
the murder in the streets of the shady border town. It
will not be until the last ten minutes of this film will our
audience, or even the group on set and in the feature (including
cast), know of the final scene of the film… until it
is too late… and it is all caught on tape in its reality.
THE
TRIP… THE FILM… THE
SUMMARY
J.Roho; a Southern
California Native, goes on a trip with a group of his closest
friends who were born and raised in Hollywood, California. These colorful, troublemakers
take an epic and adventurous journey to Tijuana, Mexico via
the California public transportation system to discover the
city’s urban myths and legends over 24 real but surreal
hours.
After heavy drinking
on several trains that take them down the coast of Southern
California, they catch up and break down as we follow this
posse through the extensive stroll up and down the last feet
of the United States. Passing graffiti ridden walls and turnstile
gates, they journey into the upside-down world of Tijuana.
We follow our group through the first time experiences of
going to Matador, Luchador, Pelota and sleazy bars. Memories, cheap thrills and weird chills
are some of the surreal life they find in Tijuana, and prove
more then they ever expected. The thrill for the audience
is “can this town even handle them?”
After walking the
back streets of town showing the Tijuana lifestyle of eccentric
gifts, cheap bear, unknown meat tacos and great tastes, the
day turns to dusk and these explorers begin a night in an
illicit town of hardcore partying and soon are lost in an
urban myth jungle. They seek out the truth of the town’s risqué night on Cinco de Mayo when
the city is a blaze with night life. Cheap beers and
women make the night into a trip gone wild.
Through these 24 hours our group of friends are thrown though
a lifetime of experience and the knowledge of what it is like
to go over the border, cross the line and then try to come
back.
This is GoNzO.
A group of eccentric youth living life to the edge in front
of the lens.
We will reunite
this group for an epic journey diving deep into their ways,
life styles, thoughts and feelings. We
will find out if such a diverse group of young minds can keep
it together over 24 hrs and bring back the unity they all once
shared as a group… or will they tear each other down
to nothing on a ride down through memory lane and show the
world why they can’t stand each other?

OVER A DECADE OF STORIES, FIGHTS AND FRIENDSHIP
GoNzO Character and Cast breakdown:
5' 10" Italian, Russian/Jew, 29 years old. Brown
hair, auburn eyes, and muscular build. The most important
and powerful pleasure of life is the sincerity of love, confidence
of being loved, and the passion of loving. J's soul places
that philosophy in absolute fashion with everything that he
encounters, pursues or meets in life. J' is a man whom
has such an inspiring and driving work ethic that once you
meet him you will adapt his same ideals in all aspects of your
life as well. He even is on the cutting edge of style before
it’s the mainstream trend. I swear to god that
this person truly exists in our world and his name is J. Roho.

5' 8" Aryan/Jew
28 years old. Blond pomp hair, slate blue eyes, skinny and
scrawny.
Atom grew up in Hollywood, CA. and is the prodigal son of
two young punk-rock parents. Growing up with a different
set of rules gave him a unique outlook on life, sometimes warped,
but his intentions were usually good. He's the type of
friend that would screw himself over to help you, and then
be mad at you for it. He's the loyal impatient. Known
as the scrawny punk with the heart of a lion, he is first to
start a fight and then first to run behind a friend to back
him up. He is opinionated in all artistic fashions. Being
the blunt, outspoken character that he is, he loves to push
his ways on others. A true brat.
www.myspace.com/brailone
5" 10" Mexican/German
29 years old. Dark brown hair, green eyes, stocky build.
Erik's dad used to drive us around with a beer in his lap. It
was like all the beer had rusted his smile to a perfect non-expression. It
was tough love all the way. He was just trying to prepare
Erik for the "tough" world that for some reason had
previously jaded him. He thought affection would make
Erik weak. One time he took Erik and his family to a
KISS concert and stole a Harley while Erik kept watch. I
guess you could say Erik and his dad are a lot alike. He
is the friend that people wonder why you hang around with and
deal with his cold attitude. But he is such a good friend
you learn to deal with it. He can be the cheeriest go getter
in the whole group if he desires something but the most stubborn
child in the world if he doesn't see a point to the path. Interested
in himself and what makes him happy, he is not the one to front
like he cares. He will be cold to your face, laugh at
your faults and shove the worst in your face.
• Phylo (Phil)
5' 10" Greek 34 years old. Bald
head, blue eyes, skinny build.
Phil is the modern day version of Oliver Twist. His
father was a petty criminal from Greece, who abandoned him
and his mother when he was a child. After that he was
usually more alone than not, which explained his compulsions. His
mom was the type usually occupied with a more self-absorbed
priority, like pining over loser boyfriends. That left him
with a gang-load of issues. If they were packaged up
and bricked they'd stock a warehouse to the ceiling . . . maybe
with a stamp of a fish on it. You know those algae
suckers, the kind that follow sharks around. . . raw uncut
waste that nobody wanted. He is the definition of clingy
and spastic. He will over drink, over analyze, and over
tax most things while taking them to the border. He
is the first to go over the line of extreme rationality and
actions. He runs his life on emotions and those run him
wild. www.myspace.com/phylonious
• Petey (Peter)
6' 3" Egyptian 32 years old. Dreadlocks. Brown
eyes, tall and lanky.
A tall big goofball full of love and hate… eccentric
is an understatement for he is as bold minded as any Egyptian
you ever met. He is a worrywart and an egomaniac. Being
proud of who he is and what he thinks, Petey is the first to
tell his side of things. He is eccentric and very deep
in his own issues and shows it off with confidence like he’s
one of the most outspoken people when it comes to an opinion.
Once you get Peter going he wont stop until he either gets
you to see his point or gets pissed off and goes on a rant
and rage. The softest hard-ass you will ever meet.
As you can see this is a very diverse group of
friends that have known each other over a decade. This amazing
story will be driven by people so deep in personality, character
and wit, they will engross the audience by revealing their
souls. Trials
and tribulations over the past have torn this group apart and
brought them together many times before. After years
of anger, resentment, epic times and trouble, these friends
will make one last attempt at being close again.
The first time
Tijuana, Mexico
will been shown in a film this way.
This is will also be the first documentary/narrative film
about the small mystery town that borders like a safe haven
for culture, beauty, sorted lives, hardships and struggles;
in a place so close to the American dream yet so far from its
grasp.
We will show this by documenting every step of the way of the
border crossing to each precarious element our characters encounter. Including,
but not limited to, interviews with shop owners, families who
sell to survive, club owners, aggressive marketers who pull
people into establishments, bartenders, street walkers, banditos,
crooks, gangsters, locals, hustlers and more. Each will
be asked a series of questions, not in a normal documentary
interview style but from the point of view of our main character,
Roho, asking curious questions along the way.
You will experience:
The streets of Hollywood
Los Angeles Subways
Down Town Los Angeles Grand Central station
The Amtrak system
The San Diego Trolley
Crossing the border into another country
The poverty of Mexico
Streetwalkers
5 for $1 Tacos
Spanish street musicians
The Pharmacia
Federally
Mexican life style
The Pelota
Gambling
Donkey pictures
Local thoughts on politics, lifestyle and the TJ
way
Local legend
People escaping the US law
Nightclubs & Nightlife
VIP areas in TJ
Strip bars
Prostitution
Street life
Plus more in this amazingly cultured city with a truly dangerous
presence.
Proposed
cameos by famous faces and names
Throughout this film we will feature improvised
cameos from star name actors, which will provide not only
creditability for distribution and filmgoers, but also add
some amazing scenes to our film. These actors
will be cast pending their busy schedules and as of this
time are not contractual.
Andy Dick: Being that he has
his own Improve workshop Andy is perfect for this kind of
experiment in cameos and a great comedian to give the room
to work and have fun in TJ. There is a myth of a show that
involves a Donkey and a Woman live show. We have
identified the location, but won’t actually go inside. Andy
will appear from the establishment and turn the group off
by trying to solicit their business.
Tom Green: In the streets of
TJ will come walking up to the group as a drunken’ crazy bum who has
lost his mind in Mexico. The group will feel sorry for
him and give him some money.
The Jack Ass crew (STEVE O or JOHHNY KNOCKSVILLE):
Will run into the group when intoxicated and talk them into
doing something crazy.
Gary Coleman & Spencer: Being an Ex-Pimp
and upcoming comic from SF with his right hand man Gary the
master Pimp Spencer will come in Character explaining Coleman
has escaped his Rep in America to work as a face known in Mexico
and help Spencer work his hustle.
Jamie Kennedy: Will play a hood that escaped
the US before he could be charged with a crime and now is hiding
in Mexico living it up.
John Leguizamo: Being an amazing improve
actor, this genius will come into the film in any way he sees
fit. We
will suggest getting his hustle on the dance floor in one of
the Tijuana clubs we visit. He will have a great time
and interact with our group in his humorous and amazing style.
Other
talent names like Kal Pen, Scott Caan, Anna Farris, Drew
Barrymore, David Faustino, Jonah Hill / Michael Cera / Christopher
Mintz-Plasse (Super Bad), Pamala Anderson, Seth Green, Carmen
Electra, Anthony Anderson or others.
DISTRIBUTION
Due to the originality
of the story and the power of its message and timeliness
of the public wanting unique and trendy films, A-Level Pictures,
Inc. is confident that we will succeed in our mission. Because of our entertainment relationships,
we have “first look” distribution engagements with
MGM and Warner Brothers Studios. We also have High-End
Independent distribution companies like Lions Gate and First
Look Studios interested in GoNzO. Additionally, we have
the support of successful sales agents and Reps who will negotiate
promising distribution contracts for the film. GoNzO
will undergo a large Public Relations campaign with a P.R.
Agent who Reps half of the A-List talent in Hollywood. We
will launch an aggressive PR campaign one month prior to principal
photography, and then for one month after wrapping the picture. A-Level
Pictures has planned an extensive grass roots publicity campaign
using the successful model and hype that the movie “The
Blair Witch Project” executed. GoNzO will
go main stream and boast the fact that a theatrical released
film was shot in 48 hours in two countries, mixed improvised
acting with an outlined script, followed real people on a dangerous
adventure, and featured A-list actor cameos while presenting
a new style of documentary with a twist ending no one had knowledge
of until the final shot. We have also initiated Guinness
Books of World Records to consider this film for the records. Public
Relations professionals have consulted with us that this is
a dynamic and sellable PR campaign and that when we begin production,
even before we reach the 5th of May shoot date, studios and
festivals will be calling trying to figure out who we are,
what all the hype and media is about, and requesting to view
the film and make distribution offers without seeing it. This
project and the public relations is STRONG. We can easily
do this.
DETERMINATION
In closing, we would
like to reiterate that we are confident that this project
will have a solid chance of succeeding. We
know that it will not be easy and it will probably be more
difficult and challenging than we can imagine. Because
of our faith in the project and the people involved, we are
confident in ourselves. However, film investment is considered
a high risk and you should consider this prior to investing. We
will be relentless in our determination to accomplish this
mission. We have lived this story and have led the project,
from infancy to its conception. We will not stop until
this movie is produced and distributed. Please join us
in our undertaking and help us to create this history making
film. We promise that your participation will be a rewarding
one for all involved.
Welcome
to the A-Level Pictures film, “GoNzO”.
